The Mighty Messengers of Soul

Mighty Messengers of Soul was born, and six years later their infectious R&B with the stand out performances of Delaney Mquaig and Terry Wiley are still going strong especially with the addition of the marvelously talented Ms. Cynthia Bailey on bass and vocals.

Bands everywhere have had their beginning in clubs, bars, and restaurants during after-hours discussions and scribbled notes on table cloths. 'The Mighty Messengers of Soul' was born from one of those late-night discussions.

After a Brett's Open Mic downtown at the old Beyu Cafe musicians from Brett's band, the Terry Wiley Band, a band from Greensboro, 'Sweet Dreams' Gary Messenger from a number of bands, Bill Beamon, The Newban, aka Atlantic Starr, Cedric Hardin, who has played with every band of notoriety and and in many different countries, Ken Smith on Bass came to Durham other places and Delaney Mquaig, Left Coast Recording and club work and now with 'Delaneous' his current band. The idea was to play a music that not too many bands are doing, 'Old Soul R&B.
