I’ll never give up” are the words you will hear Cynthia Bailey a.k.a. “herroyalbadness” say when she speaks of her craft. Energetically and dynamically, she entertains audiences with her fender jazz bass and music from her soul! No matter where she performs or how large the crowd, she grabs hold to the moment and puts her all into it! She lights up a stage with her strong presence. Though influenced by several musicians such as, Wyzard/Mothers finest, Boosie Collins, Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke, Brothers Johnson, Tina Turner, U2, Fleetwood Mac, to name a few, she has developed a style of her own. Cynthia realized her love of music at a very young age, when she began singing and leading songs in her church choir. She wrote her first song at age 8 and played clarinet through grade school and college. While attending NCA&T State University, Cynthia began playing the bass guitar. She was determined to learn the instrument and worked diligently to gain knowledge. It was a bumpy ride, in and out of bands, on and off the road, practicing till’ her fingers bled, falling asleep many nights with bass in hand. Though it was tough getting to where she is today, she admits, she wouldn’t change a thing. She also loves theatre and playwriting. She holds a BFA in Professional Theatre with a concentration in musical theatre. She has performed in plays all over NYC! Presently, Cynthia is a member of the Dlanieous band and also touring with Doug Clark’s Hotnuts!
