Tonight we have two great guitar players, together for the first time at the BNG.

Bo Lankenau is a self-taught musician who grew up in Chappaqua, N. Y. listening to and being inspired by the classic blues, soul, rock, jazz and folk music of the 50s and 60s. “I met Jo through a mutual friend and was immediately drawn to her eclectic jazz/soul/gospel stylings and deep understanding of the jazz tradition,” Lankenau said.  Bo has played hundreds of shows in and around the Triangle and opened for the likes of Buddy Guy, Betty Lavette — and soon Al Green — at such well known venues as the Durham Performing Arts, Koka Booth Amphitheatre and The Cat’s Cradle.  www.bolankenau.com

Russ Corvey studied arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music before forming the popular smooth jazz act Indigo City. He toured nationally in support of 1998′s Samba Electrique CD, performed at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival and on Norwegian Cruise Lines 2000 All-Star Smooth Jazz Cruise along with Kirk Whalum, The Rippingtons, Ken Navarro and others. Russ has composed and recorded three contemporary jazz albums and in 2002 composed a full length contemporary ballet, “Arriving in Indigo City”.
